Simplonpass 2005m

The Simplonpass connects Switzerland with Nothern Italy. The pass crosses from Pennine Alps to Lepotine Alps. It was used as early as the Stone Age, but intil the 17th century it was mainly used by smugglers as the narrow Gondo Gorge was considered impassable. Nowadays it is open all year round.

You can walk the antique 35km Stockalper Trail (a preserved mule trail from the 17th century). Most people take 3 days for this trip.

On the Simplon you find very interesting Wind conditions, and for this reason there are many people Snowkiting on the Simplonpass.
