It was in the Porto region where Portugal was founded in the 12th century. Nowadays the city is a World Heritage City for its architecture and monuments. Plan enough days as you will be disappointed to leave without having seen every corner of the city.

Porto offers both, a vibrant typical Portuguese city as well as beaches that are close to the city. So you can combine both, city and leisure on the beach.

The River Douro (River Duero in Spain) flows through the city and you can visit close wineries with one of the many boat trips that are offered. Go and dive into the real Portugal!
