They say that Maruata has the most beautiful beach(es) of the state of Michoacán. You will not be disappointed. At the time of visit Maruata was a small village that hosted backpackers. When we were there we shared the beach with 7 other tourists. Some time of the year the village is full we were told – so you better check what time of the year you go. There is a Black Turtle sanctuary unfortunately controlled by the Mexican military that supposedly was selling the eggs illegally.
