El Pardo – Madrid

El Pardo is a village and a park with the same name just outside of Madrid. The place is quite emblematic to Spanish history. Dictator Franco was living in the area and is actually buried in the cemetery.

The Palacio de la Zarzuela (close in the Park of El Pardo) was home to Juan Carlos I and Sofia, the previous Kings of Spain and it is said that the king owns / owned other houses in the region that he used as hideouts to meet his mistresses. So hey, a place full of history, no?

The current Kings of Spain actually live in a Place just 400 meters from the Palacio de Zarzuela.

El Pardo town is very small but quite interesting if you like Game food. Its packed with restaurants that serve wild boar, deer and partridge. All in all a great place to spend an afternoon enjoying a bit of nature, to visit in the Palacio Real El Pardo as well as to have a good meal away from the city stress.
