Kopan Monastery – Kathmandu

Visiting Nepal means diving into Buddhist traditions. To prepare myself and to better understand I visited an introductory retreat in the Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu. Just a bit outside of the city on a hill you find this unique monastery which is home to 360 Buddhist monks.

The retreat was amazing, being away from society within the monastery walls following the daily routines of a Buddhist monk.

In this 10 days I learned a lot about the basics of Buddhism but as well about myself. This was the perfect preparation for my months to come in this mystical country. Additionally I met lots of very interesting people while being there. Thanks Kopan!!!
